Kindrek Mod

This is the page where you can download the Kindrek BGII--SoA & ToB NPC mod. Kindrek is from a race of magic-hating half-giants known as the Roc. Their racial origins are actually unknown, but many believe they were once men bred with giants. Others claim they are overgrown dwarves, since their bodies' structures are so very similar. Standing seven to eight feet tall, Roc are highly magic-resistant, and they love nothing better than hunting down wizards and destroying magic items. Kindrek is a soulless blackguard. He is a tireless, merciless pursuer of magic. He possesses incredible strength and is extremely hardy (racial characteristics). Kindrek is a non-romanceable NPC for BGII--SoA & ToB. He now has a mini-quest, along with his one Kindrek-specific encounter. He has extensive banters and interjections as well as a couple of cut scenes. He also has a ChatPack. A "ChatPack" is something I came up with when looking at romanceable NPCs' FlirtPacks. It works under the same principle as a FlirtPack, but instead of flirting, you just chat. These are all PC-initiated chats. One tip: Kindrek will not join your party if the main character is a wizard, a multi-classed wizard, a sorcerer, or a bard. Enjoy! The voiced Kindrek mod is quite large for those with dial-up.

v2.1: When you give Kindrek a magical item, he gives back a little something in return...
v2.2: Well, Kindrek would not make it past spellhold because he became unselectable after the PC-torture scene. This is due to his immunities. Being immune to spell levels also means being immune to bioware's cutscenes! So when the cutscene made all party members save unselectable, then tried to release them via a spell effect, it had no effect on Kindrek. So, in order to make Kindrek a playable mod, I had to remove his spell level immunities. Unfortunately, now he is a *huge* muchkin! I gave him huge magic resistance (trying to preserve the spirit of the mod), but now he can be affected by friendly spells. ARGH! I can see no way around this conundrum--this is the only way to make him a playable mod. I have coded in specially to make him immune to all the friendly spells that were available in NI (haste, cure disease, cure blindness, cure deafness, cure paralysis, cure confusion, invisibility, remove curse, remove fear, remove paralysis, restoration, slow poison, and flesh to stone). This may be an incompatibility between the original game and the Kindrek mod that I cannot overcome. Sorry, folks. He works now, but he is diminished as a mod...
